My site is still in the works. Eventually I’d like to post what I served for dinner that evening. Today on the menu; Wonton soup.

I made pozole on Monday. It was a BIG pot of pozole. My husband has been feasting on it for days. I have to admit that although I am still a programmers widow, It feels good to spoil him. He works hard for the people he loves. We appreciate the sacrifices he makes to provide for us. I appreciate that I can stay home and do as I please. Whether shopping at the mall, taking my daughter to the park or going out to lunch with friends. I have this freedom because he is a real man. Real men take care of their family. He wakes up early and works hard till late at night, with out complaining, whether he feels like it or not. And so that is why I make him warm loving meals.
After finishing the last of the pozole today. My husband was so pleased that he gave me a carte blanche.
Hmm. What to do? A vacation, jewelry, desperately needed time on my site? I think I’ll ask for a new HDTV, blu-ray player, and a component audio system. What do you guys think I should do with my carte blanche?
We had some friends over for dinner. I made shepard’s pie, spinach salad, corn and my husband insisted I make enchiladas. I was fresh out of canned enchilada sauce so I was forced to make it from scratch. For desert I made a chocolate cake.
Their daughters were so sweet and well behaved. They made our little one look like a beelzebaby.
My husband has known them for a long time. They became our clients just five years ago. And now we are honored to call them our friends. We talked photography, parenting, politics, home theaters and blu-ray. It’s fun to chew the fat with fellow believers.

Dan has me doing menial tasks of hold shift, ctrl + and f12. To make the task less painful, I’m listening to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen on replay. I wish I had a licorice dispenser in my car.
Lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody.
Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy-
Because I’m easy come,easy go,
A little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me,
To me
Mama,just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger,now hes dead,
Mama,life had just begun,
But now Ive gone and thrown it all away-
Mama ooo,
Didn’t mean to make you cry-
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters-
Too late,my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine-
Body’s aching all the time,
Goodbye everybody-Ive got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama ooo- (any way the wind blows)
I don’t want to die,
I sometimes wish Id never been born at all-
I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
Galileo,galileo,
Galileo galileo
Galileo figaro-magnifico-
But I’m just a poor boy and nobody loves me-
Hes just a poor boy from a poor family-
Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go-
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
No,no,no,no,no,no,no-
Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me-
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye-
So you think you can love me and leave me to die-
Oh baby-cant do this to me baby-
Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here-
Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me,
Any way the wind blows….
Dan and I had High Tea at the Empress hotel in Victoria Canada several years ago. We’ve been hooked ever since.
I had my sisters over for tea today. We had a really nice time, enjoying tasty delights and each others company. Dan loves it when I have afternoon teas. Because I always bring him a plate of whatever is on the menu.
I made two different finger sandwiches(ham and cucumber), cream of broccoli soup, fruit with a dollop of vanilla yogurt. Also, on the menu; ginger cream cookies, lemon poppy seed bread, orange cranberry bread, cream puffs and mini brownies. I served Empress tea and Earl Grey with Bergamot. It was lovely.
Our daughter really hammed it up. She danced, signed words and phrases and recited the alphabet. I played a video of her on our home theater PC that everyone enjoyed. I love my husband’s cameras. He uses a Canon 20D and a Canon XH-A1. I don’t care what people think. The most important purchase when starting a family isn’t a new car, or top of the line toys. It’s a really good digital SLR and camcorder. Our home video’s are the most valuable thing we own.
I am currently in the market for a sofa and an American WWII helmet.
So far, my eyes are set on the lovely Bernhardt Crawford or the Trinidad. But, I’m also leaning towards leather. They would be perfect in leather.
And I’m having the hardest time finding a helmet that I really like. The German ones are cute. But I don’t think I could get myself to wear it. I would prefer one of the 101st paratroopers. A medic helmet might be fun too. I da know. I can’t decide.
I know. I’m a little backwards in my posts. My little hiatus threw me off. I wanted to post about our Christmas anyway, it was nice.
Christmas 2007
Our daughter in only a year old, so we got to sleep in. Nice. Sleep. I made a tasty breakfast. Brewed some tea. Life is good.
We must have been on the nice list this year cause santa didn’t miss our house.
Dan got some books: Sound for digital video, written by the guy who invented THX, and another book, “Instant digital audio”. Videography, audio, and coffee roasting are his current hobbies.
Santa brought me diamond and pearl earrings and a faconnable shirt. So lovely. Sadly I didn’t get a new couch like I hoped. But the jewelry will appease me for a while. I’ll have to post about my sofa modus operandi later.
Our little girl got a tricycle, marble works, a soccer ball and lots of books. We don’t believe in buying like crazy for Christmas. Gifts are fun gesture but they aren’t the focus of our Christmas.
I prayed for snow. We saw snow on Christmas day. Enough for the children to play in and the adults to enjoy. It was beautiful. I’ll have to post some pictures later.
After this post, I’ll be back in order again.
I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday. This year, we really wanted to party. So we slept in the new year.
With new year resolutions, it’s customary to reflect on the year past and think about the coming year.
God has been so good to us this year. We have our health, our daughter is growing in wisdom and in stature, we love our jobs and we continue to grow in our walk with God.
Whatever you resolve to change this year, invite Christ into your program. He has your best in mind. He has a perfect plan, hope and future for you. I’m grateful that He doesn’t set us up for failure but offers his grace to us for every part of our lives. This year I hope that my resolutions will draw me closer to him. Living to what He has called me to.
On a lighter note. Here is a funny SNL digital short, Andy Punches. It has Bon Jovi and Foo Fighter cameos.
